About Hope for Haiti
Haiti is facing its highest recorded levels of food insecurity ever, with 5.7 million people – more than half the population – facing acute hunger.
- 2.1 million are at Emergency Level (Level 4 on a 5-point scale). The Central Plateau is now a critical crisis zone, strained by the collapse of national supply chains and a massive influx of families fleeing extreme gang violence in Port-au-Prince and other regions.
- More than 1 million children are facing an emergency level of food insecurity, threatening an entire generation.
- The nation’s poverty rate stands at 87.6% (defined as living on less than $6.85 per day), with an extreme poverty rate of 30.3% (less than $2.15 per day).
The list could unfortunately go on and on. And, that’s where we come in!
