Hope Local Kansas City is Lutheran Church of Hope’s Local Site in the Kansas City metropolitan area. We would love to have you join us for worship! Conveniently located in Shawnee, Kansas, you’ll find us just a short block off Interstate 435 on Midland Drive, and a short drive from anywhere on the west side of Kansas City .

Hope Local Kansas City launched in the fall of 2017 and has been a steady presence in the Johnson County area for over eight years. Led by a group of dedicated volunteers, Hope Local KC is home to young adults, young families, families with school-aged children, and more. We offer quality childcare, coffee each week, and hot breakfast once per month in addition to Holy Communion on the first Sunday of the month. Come grow in your faith with us!
God is on the move in Kansas City , and we believe the best is still ahead. Through Building Hope for Kansas City, we are prayerfully preparing for a future home where more people can encounter Jesus and experience life-changing community. Building Hope for Kansas City
Building Hope for Kansas City is a giving campaign to establish our permanent church home where everyone can grow in faith, be equipped to live it out, and reach out to the world around us to share the everlasting love of Jesus Christ!
Last summer, our church family stepped forward in faith, and God moved powerfully through that obedience. Through Building Hope for Kansas City, more than $150,000 was joyfully given, allowing us to move forward with plans for a permanent worship home!
We are now prayerfully preparing to open this multi-purpose facility by late summer of 2026, trusting God will use this space to help even more people encounter Jesus and experience life-changing community.
What this future space makes possible
- A permanent worship home designed for gathering, prayer, missions and fellowship.
- Spaces for kids, groups, and weekly ministry beyond Sunday mornings.
- A hub for local missions and outreach to better serve our neighbors.
- Welcoming and accessible environments for all ages and abilities.
Because of God’s faithfulness and the generosity of this community , Hope Local KC is no longer just preparing for what could be — we are building what will be for generations to come!

Looking for a Place to Grow?
Hope Local Kansas City has a growing young adult population connected to our REVIVE Young Adult Ministry in West Des Moines, Iowa. Alpha is Hope’s major discipleship course offered in a small group format three times per year in the winter, spring, and fall. Missions are also a focus for us through local outreach and service trips. Hope Local Kansas City attendees have access to all of Hope’s many mission trips both locally and abroad.
A Very Different Kind of Kingdom
As we continue in our 2026 theme, “Jesus for Real: One Year. Four Gospels. Infinite Hope!” we are moving into the Gospel of Mark. Join us as we look at the Kingdom that Jesus came to usher into this world. It is “A Very Different Kind of Kingdom.”
