What a beautiful Scripture reading this is! When I first started to discover the Christian faith for myself, I tried to gain knowledge about God by reading the Bible front to back and watching YouTube videos from other believers sharing how they did Bible studies, prayer, and other healthy daily activities to grow with God.
Admittedly, those silly YouTube videos of people creating prayer journals were far more impactful in growing in my faith at the start than Scripture itself. Why, you may ask? Well, I was lost in the confusion of Old Testament law and gospel. There were so many rules that didn’t make sense to me, and it caused me to be more confused about faith.
I desperately wanted to know God and have a relationship with him, though, so I kept pushing through to try and understand. In my efforts, one thing became extremely clear: God is so good, and his goodness really shines through in his immense love for us as he sacrificed Jesus for me and for you.
I would encourage you to just stop and soak that truth in for a minute today. God did that for you. His immense love fills you from your toes to the top of your head. His love covers you daily, going before you, beside you, and behind you. And Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection are the evidence of this immense love for us.
Reflection:
- How does it make you feel to read verses 17 and 18? “I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds.” And when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.
- Consider God’s love and forgiveness for you. How can you show that to the people you encounter today?
- Is there anyone you need to share this Good News with today? Maybe you have a friend who’s struggling or a coworker going through a hardship. How can you remind the world of God’s love?
